Software/Standards Evaluation Form

Objective: Examine how specific educational software meets the instructional needs in your district/building and how it relates to your curriculum and the NYS Learning Standards.  Completion of the form will generate a file in HTML format to be posted on the SLO Home Page for districts to reference.

Procedure:

  1. Choose at least FIVE different educational programs (e.g. Wiggleworks, Math Blaster, etc.) that you are interested in evaluating for use in your district/building. The programs need to be used in any of the seven NYS Learning Standards curriculum areas.
  2. The form must be in the format outlined on the SLO Format Sheet - Option 2.
  3. Enter the data for on-line submission by completing each text/check box for one software package at a time.
  4. To move from field-to-field press the Tab key or click in the appropriate field.
  5. Press the Submit button after you complete the entry for each software package.
  6. If you make a mistake or wish to withdraw an entry, please use the e-mail button to contact the site's administrator.

	 3) the software develops enthusiasm in the intended areas
	 4) the program allows for interdisciplinary content and activities
	 5) the scope and sequence of the software allows for easy integration into the
	    classroom curriculum
	 6) this software is interactive
	 7) the program promotes higher order thinking skills
	 8) the instructions are clear, intuitive and easy to follow for teachers and students
	 9) the cost is justifiable to its usefulness
	10) this software is recommended for use in the classroom/media center (If response
	    is 1 or 2, please explain in the Additional comments field below.)
